Not content with re-shaping the new car market by pioneering the crossover - a success reflected in the soaring sales of its Qashqai and Juke models - Nissan is now creating the Juke-R, the first ever super crossover.

Meet the Nissan Juke-R, one of the craziest ideas we have heard in a long, long while. The street legal prototype is currently being developed by Nissan and built by motorsports outfit RML with input from Nissan Technology Centre for Europe (NTC-E).

On board, the standard Juke's dashboard has been modified to accommodate the gauges, dials and 7-inch customizable LCD display from the GT-R. "Juke lends itself perfectly to a sports derivative and  Nissan Juke-R explores that territory," said Paul Willcox, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Nissan in Europe.Actually, it's creating two Juke-Rs (and only two), one left-hand drive and one right-hand drive.

Now, the Juke is no slouch with its standard 188-hp, 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. Ray Mallock Ltd. also mounted the GT-R's six-speed transaxle in the Nissan Juke-R. And the GT-R's gauge setup, including the reconfigurable center screen, was transplanted. In the United States, Nissan has sold nearly 27,500 Jukes since the crossover went on sale early this year.
