After a couple of years away, returns to the U.S. market the high-end BMW M6 coupe . The 2013 BMW M6 shares its base 2013 mechanical with BMW M5 sedan, a tradition since the Bavarian brand launched the first generation model in 1983.

But while the 560-horsepower turbocharged V8 engine with undeniable verve move 4.255 pounds of the weight of the car, the feeling of heaviness in handling almost never leaves not driving the BMW M6. And this is the main repair-and important-we see a car that is no less impressive in both the aesthetic and the mechanical.

The 2013 M6 abandons tradition of rabid aspirated engines of previous generations in switching to a twin-turbo V8, the first M car, which pays the spectacular power of 560 horsepower with a torque of 500 lb-ft. The new power unit provides clear advantages in some aspects, from the pure performance power and torque to emissions and fuel consumption figures, significantly better than the previous V10 atmospheric.

But one can argue that in other respects the engine has taken a step back. If we look for instant response, the lovely sporty sound and the ability to spin at high rpm, the turbo engines can not compete with a naturally aspirated engine tuned. But maybe this is not so important for potential buyers of the BMW M6. The car no longer has a radical character and sporty, but is much more versatile and allows use both bourgeois and quiet as a rabid and sporty driving.

Another aspect is the abandonment of the old BMW SMG semiautomatic box for a delicious double-clutch transmission with seven speeds. The new change substantially improves both the smoothness of use and speed of operation, offering up almost immediate increases and reductions synchronized equally rapid and effective. Its integration with the powerful V8 biturbo engine is excellent and the power package is second to none in the market.

The driver can adjust to three different settings for each suspension, throttle map, address and the gearbox, from a comfort oriented settings to more radical positions that seek maximum performance and sportsmanship. Everything is much easier than it sounds as there are buttons on the center console to regulate each of these elements, plus two customizable buttons on the steering wheel, M1 and M2, where the user can store their favorite settings.

Turning to the outward appearance, but the beauty is always subjective, we think that the new model has a spectacular line, well-proportioned and striking without going to the extremes of Italian sports. In the metallic orange unit tests and alloy wheels with 20-inch M, 2013 BMW M6 we love it. Equally positive is the valuation of the interior, where the quality of materials and level of equipment to satisfy the most discerning.

The equipment list is really complete: Merino leather upholstery in black, carbon fiber finish on the dashboard and center console, multimedia screen to control navigation, audio, climate control and trip computer, electric seats with multiple adjustments, camera and sensors to aid parking with panoramic view, head up display, warning systems for lane change, self-closing doors, sound system of high fidelity, are some of the items of equipment of the BMW M6.

Our test unit had the optional carbon ceramic brakes expensive ($ 8,700) that offer a greater resistance to fatigue, longer life and a weight reduction over traditional steel discs. Another notable aspect of the car is that the roof is carbon fiber to help reduce both the total weight and the height of the center of gravity.

The 2013 M6 is a really awesome car. We see it as a luxury performance coupe with spectacular, surrounded by luxury and comfort, and not so much as a sports car. Impressive but not love. Need slimming.
