The Chevy Colorado comes in three distinct body styles: there's a regular-cab version, an Extended Cab with small rear-hinged doors, and a Crew Cab with four full-size, front-hinged doors. Cheap, hard plastic dominates every surface and flat bench seats are standard. Three engines are offered in the Chevy Colorado. The rear-drive Chevy Colorado offers full-time four-wheel drive, and automatic transmissions are more common than the five-speed manual that comes standard on more basic versions.
Most Chevy Colorado pickups have an abbreviated cargo bed that's five feet, one inch long. The four-door Crew Cab also has uncomfortable rear seats with a nearly vertical backrest.
The Chevy Colorado now has standard anti-lock brakes and stability control, but crash test scores aren't that impressive.
Introduced for the 2004 model year as the successor to the S-10 pickup, the Chevrolet Colorado was an instant success. The sticker price range on the Colorado is quite wide. Chevrolet refers to the base Colorado as the Work Truck, and three LT trims (1LT, 2LT, and 3LT) serve as the mid- to high-level equipment packages.
The 2011 Chevy Colorado is a solid performer priced to sell, boasting exceptional gas mileage for a mid-size pickup truck at a very affordable price.
Mileage: Highway: 25 miles to the gallon. MSRP: Baseline: $18,110. Full options: $27,395.
As mid-sized pick-up trucks go, the Chevy Colorado has a surprisingly limber handle, navigating both highways and slightly rougher roads with equal aplomb. Drivers can grasp the leather wrapped steering wheel and plunk the truck into drive.
Interior features and design is one area where the Chevy Colorado lags behind the other options in the segment. The variety of different amenities, including on-star navigation, cruise control, air conditioning, and a theft-deterrent system makes the Chevy Colorado exceptionally luxurious and safety conscious. For safety, the 2011 Chevrolet Colorado includes On Star, stability control, traction control, side curtain airbags, and antilock brakes. The 2010 crew cab Colorado models performed particularly well in government crash testing, earning 5 stars, while all other editions performed at 4-star level.
The 2011 Chevrolet Colorado is still a first-gent Colorado, and there are no significant changes to the exterior that weren’t added in the 2007 revision.
Adding the Crew Cab model, the LT trim level Chevrolet Colorado compact trucks all come standard with a 2.9 liter four-cylinder engine.
There are three body styles for the Chevrolet Colorado: regular cab, long-wheelbase extended cab and 4-door crew cab. There are three engines available: a 185-hp, 2.9-liter 4-cylinder, which is standard on all but the crew cab, a 242-hp, 3.7-liter 5-cylinder engine and a 300-hp 5.3-liter V8.
