There are cars that inspire the desire to seek any excuse to handle them over and over again while others ... not so much. The Scion FR-S is definitely one of those behind the wheel causing many times and enjoy a fun experience and speed as nice as the look of its compact shape.
Scion, a division of the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, we were pleasantly surprised with this model that I honestly did not expect coming from a specialist born in sedans, vans and SUVs. The Scion FR-S has sporty soul and character, is a compact that offers a fun driving dynamics with a focus on delivering a driving experience that combines speed, precision and aggressiveness tailored to enthusiasts who seek something more than a means of transportation in a car.
With the traction that gives life only to the rear wheels, the dynamic behavior of the FR-S surprised by its stability and accuracy with a very controlled movement of the driver's body still sharp curves, moreover, constantly invited to take them fully logically with the necessary caution but fast enough to feel at the track and with the helmet. The steering is very precise and is something that we highlight, where you aim to take you there without major milestones and obviously is an advantage that is RWD which helps significantly in the shooting. Its wheels are 17 inches and has a limited slip differential that greatly contributes to the balance and stability of performance.
The acceleration of the FR-S is pretty quick and revs enthusiastically sit firmly in suspension but not to the point to notice every imperfection of the road, is a copy that you can drive safely in city traffic all day. Its engine is a 2.0 liter four-cylinder (flat 4) horizontally opposed (boxer) that may not say much in theory but in practice its 200 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque linear move easily and too loosely the body of the new Scion model, that if we were to compare with his brother the tC, we must say that the FR-S is the largest, with more energy, more excitement and more power as his letters of introduction to a segment where rivals have more scrolls and history as Hyudai Genesis Coupe, Ford Mustang or Miata (MX-5) of Mazda. In pure acceleration the Scion FR-S manages to surpass the mark of 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds.
As important fact should be mentioned that the FR-S has a twin brother who is not actually the son of Toyota, this is the Subaru BRZ. Strangely enough, this was the product of an alliance between the two Japanese brands to jointly produce a compact sporty, fun and very reasonably priced around $ 25,000. There really is no dramatic differences between the two with minimal except in the sense of firmness that has the copy of Subaru, the rest are the same.
The Scion FR-S is positioned as a product that will interest young much the buyer or the driver you want an experience that goes beyond the routine of cruise control and 55 miles per hour. The Japanese compact sports spirit will definitely talk about and anticipate good sales volumes. His face also expresses power and speed, turns heads.
Inside the instrumentation interface is very friendly with a contemporary look, without exaggerating much on luxuries rather presented with simplicity and focus, as mentioned earlier, is in providing a dynamic driving experience and fun. It has a navigation system, but it has a good audio system. The front seats offer good support for the driver and passenger while the rears are practically ornaments, including very limited space for children. The trunk space is not very generous.
A fuel level can expect the Scion FR-S about 22 miles per gallon in city traffic and 30 mpg on the highway.
