Mercedes has now concerned with hill climbers with the brutal Mercedes SLK 340.
The Carlsson SLK 340 is intended for attendance at "hill climbs" in the so-called E1 category. The car is from the ground up completely rebuilt with the aim as much as possible to save weight.
Indeed: the lighter your car, the faster you get up. The weight of the hill climber is limited to just 780 kg, including through the use of a carbon fiber body kit and a brake system of ultra light materials.
A potent engine also helps; Carlsson boosts the 3.4-liter V8 in the SLK 340 on up to 610 hp and 430 Nm. The engine is coupled to a Hewland gearbox with paddles behind the steering wheel.

A serious spoiler package, diffuser and a flat bottom contribute as on aerodynamic field and to provide better handling in three positions adjustable dampers from KW. BBS wheels with Avon tires ensure good grip and obviously not missing a roll cage.
The Swiss hill climb champion Reto Meisel leads the team around the SLK 340 he is driving the car. One of his wishes was to drive this car to participate in the mother of all hill climbs: the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in the U.S. state of Colorado.
