Available exclusively in the crew-cab body style, the Chevy Silverado Hybrid is expected to use one-quarter less gas than a regular Silverado.

The Chevy Silverado Hybrid gets GM's On Star 9.0 telematics system that GM says provides better voice recognition.

Depending on the Chevy Silverado Hybrid's seating configuration, the crew cab can seat five or six people.

The Chevy Silverado Hybrid is a full-size pickup boasting 22 MPG freeway fuel efficiency. Powered by GM's 2-Mode Hybrid system and a 6.0 liter gas V8, the Silverado Hybrid provides all-electric driving at low speeds and fuel savings while fully loaded and towing up to 6,100 pounds.

With the fuel mileage savings of the hybrid system and Silverado's 26-gallon (98-liter) fuel tank, the Silverado Hybrid has a cruising range of more than 500 miles.

Other standard GM work-truck features abound including a standard tonneau cover and Z-71 off road packages. With an MSRP of $39,015 the Silverado Hybrid isn't an inexpensive truck. An additional 8 year / 100,000 mile Hybrid warranty is given which covers the all the Hybrid components including the battery.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid, and its twin, the GMC Sierra Hybrid, are the only hybrid options for full-size truck buyers. Luckily, most reviewers say the Silverado gives up little capability while chasing fuel economy.

However for consumers tired of getting stared down angrily by their environment-loving peers, General Motors has the fuel-efficient 2011 Chevy Silverado Hybrid (and the nearly identical GMC Sierra Hybrid).

Compared to the gas-only Silverado, the Chevy Silverado Hybrid has a 40 percent increase in city fuel economy, and achieves gas mileage similar to a midsize sedan's. Since the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid is available in only one body style, its consumer appeal is limited. For buyers looking for a longer bed or more towing capacity a regular Silverado may be a better option given its ability to tow over 10,000 pounds compared to the Silverado Hybrid’s 6,100 pounds.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid is available in two well-equipped trims. For 2011, the Silverado Chevy Silverado Hybrid gains enhancements to help reduce wind noise.
