More expensive brands collide with new crash
First American IIHS tested the more expensive German car manufacturers on a new part and then crash to the conclusion that they are not too good on this score. An outcome that has led to discontent driven by the 'victims'.

IIHS, an abbreviation of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, is a U.S. safety institute similar to the European EuroNCAP. They also test cars for safety and crash recently, they have a new part added to their program, called "small overlap frontal crash". This is only the left or right side of the front of the car from a solid block collided. This simulates how a car the IIHS adhere if under a (slight) angle comes into contact with an obstacle or another vehicle.

hardly satisfactory grades
The specific crash test is conducted at a speed of 40 mph (64 km / h) and in particular the three German premium brands, Audi, BMW and Mercedes, which show moderate to poor performance on this part. But not only the A4, 3-Series and C-class performed below expectation, the IS250 and not in deliverable E350 Lexus and the Volkswagen CC should be significantly better. Of the higher classified cars that the IIHS against the block catapulted scoring only the Volvo S60, Infiniti G-Series and Acura (Honda) TL sufficient.

New standard
the small overlap frontal crash 'is a new crash part not yet covered by other similar institutions is included in their testing standards. However, the likelihood is that this substantially will be done quickly. For although most cars nowadays perform well in other frontal collisions, there are still many deaths each year due to such accidents, of which a large part because of "small overlap" crashes.
