Aston Martin Rapide S Hybrid Hydrogen race car unveils

Aston Martin is the first manufacturer with a car on hydrogen take part in the racing. A Rapide S is used as the basis for this ingenious piece of engineering.

The Aston Martin Rapide S Hybrid Hydrogen is built in cooperation with Alset Global. The car will be one of the 150 participants in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring held on 19 and 20 May and can be on both gasoline, hydrogen and propelled by a combination of both fuels. The 6.0 liter V12 with two turbochargers, the Aston can get within 5 seconds, 100 km / h but nothing is said about the total power.

To store the hydrogen supply, there are four tanks installed in the unique Aston Martin Rapide S. Two are placed next to the driver and two are located in the trunk of the hydrogen-racer. All tanks are manufactured from carbon and 3.5 kilograms to hydrogen per piece lost. Which fuel is stored under the pressure of 350 bar and must be kept safe. To indicate that this has happened the German motorsport organ DMSB its approval for the hydrogen plant.
